Why do you believe many people hold up the idea of a traditional family or the modern marriage as a benchmark against which families or marriages are judged?

I believe it has to do with what we have been all exposed to and our experience as we grow up and culturally and religiously these are what considered a norm within many society , traditional families existed way back and they are what has been seen as an anchor of bringing people together and maintaining a proper structure within society. Effective Stability , solidarity and functionality of society is all based on these traditional families or modern marriages.
