Executive Branch is responsible for appointing Judges and Justices of the Supreme Court while the Legislative Branch carries out the function of confirming their appointments. This poses some sort of check on the Judicial Branch as they cannot suo motu I.e on their own appoint and confer the title of Judges and Justices.The Legislative Branch has the power to impeach any Judge or Justice if they act outside the purview of the laws established by Congress. For instance, the Justice of the Supreme Court may err and do an act incompatible with legislation to ensure justice is served. The Legislative Branch may regard such Judge or Justice as incompetent and thereafter remove him/her. The Legislative Branch of government may disagree with how a law has been interpreted by the Judicial Branch and a new law may be passed to fill the loopholes.The Legislative Branch is saddled with the responsibility of making laws. The Judicial Branch can say that a particular law is unconstitutional. The Executive Branch has the power to veto the legislation made by the Legislature. The Legislature can with a number of votes overrule the veto power of the president.

The three organs of government namely the Executive, Legislative, and the Judicial Branch are established by the Constitution of the United States to bring about the effective running of governmental affairs. These three organs have the various ways they functions and this as a result of the separation of power. The separation of power between them is to avoid the centralisation of power in one arm/organ of government.
