There are five components of social episodes, each of which influences intercultural communication: 1) cultural patterns, 2) social roles, 3) rules of interaction, 4) interaction scenes, and 5) interaction contexts. Recall the last time you engaged in intercultural communication in a social episode. Write a paragraph describing the social episode, how the interaction arose and progressed, and for which components you and your interlocutor had a mutual understanding. Include details on if there were one or more components for which you and your interlocutor had a very different approach. Read at least two to three of your classmates’ posts and comment on their experience.
