Ch 13 A supervisor noticed thats pent a lot of time at the water cooler gossiping about the others. The supervisor asked other employees not to go to the water cooler when Zelda was there. By the end of the week, Zelda was no longer hanging out by the cooler. The supervisor used to control this situation.

In the case of the supervisor, he knows that, given a persuasive order about not going to the water cooler will help to alineate Zelda from friends she will gossip with.  This approach ended up working for him on the long run.
