Suppose you had some large Spanish silver coins, called doubloons, that were minted in the 17th century and made of silver that was nearly pure. Would those doubloons have intrinsic value? What could be done with the silver besides using it as money? If you wished to sell the coins, would you take them to someone who would melt them down for the value of the silver, or to a dealer in antique coins? Explain your choice.
