I believe this is a case of invalid analogy. The analogy made was based in one similarity - the fact that the US and the other countries are industrialized nations. In analogical reasoning, we use one known similarity to assume that we will find other similarities. However, that is not necessarily true. Even if the US and the other countries are industrialized nations, there are other variables that should be taken into consideration before one can affirm that the same system would work for all of them. For instance, the infrastructure of the schools, the level of training and knowledge of teachers, the amount of funds the government invests in education, the cultural background of students, all of that and much more can influence in the national curriculum system's ability to function properly.
