How were women treated differently than men in ancient Assyria

The law in ancient Assyria did not systematically deprive women of all their rights, but they were still effectively second class citizens. As in many strongly patriarchal societies, a woman's perceived value lay mostly in her supposed role as an incubator of male seed.
