1: The French Revolution completely changed the social and political structure of France. It put an end to the French monarchy, feudalism, and took political power from the Catholic church. Although the revolution ended with the rise of Napoleon, the ideas and reforms did not die.
2: France remained at roughly the same size at the beginning and end of the revolution/napoleonic period. As the revolution was getting under way the boundaries of France were from the Rhine river to the east of the Netherlands to the north Spain to the south and the Atlantic to the west.
