Why was the Tang dynasty called the golden age of Chinese civilization?

Can anybody explain how the cupola of the chapel of Aachen could have been build in the early days of 9th century while all other churches in Germany had been small and poor buildings made from clay? For China that means, that the battle of Talas in 751 AD never occured, where Gao Xianzhi, a General from Korean Goguryeo and commander of the Chinese troops is claimed the loss of the battle at river Talas in Transoxania against the Muslim troops of the Abbasides. Remember that the Abbasides had just chasen away the Umayyads from Bagdad after a year long battle. For Spain that means, that the “Reconquista” between Christian and Muslim troops could not have lasted for a stunning 770 years (622 AD - 1492 AD). Compared to this battle period, the “100 years war” in France (1337 - 1452) and the “30 years war” in Germany (1618 - 1648) must have been.
