Proportional representation refers to election of a representatives not by way of majority votes cast by person in favor of the contenders but the division of people that are choosing the representatives.

Not selecting the representative by the majority of votes cast by such contender is a practice often followed in the states. In this divisional majority is the given priority for election.A contender is divided by the no. of voters into various divisions of voters and the person getting most votes of a specific division is declared as the winner of the election.This method eliminates favoritism and promotes real good representation of the state.
