The Sun influences Earth's weather with its changes in luminosity. Almost 100% of the energy that reaches the Earth comes from the Sun, most of it in the form of radiation, light. If radiation increases, the Earth receives more energy.

The Sun is the main source of energy for all processes that occur in the earth-atmosphere-ocean system. Methods of transferring energy in the atmosphere include conduction, convection, latent heat, advection and radiation. The method of energy transfer through radiative processes is different from the other mechanisms since molecules are not involved in this process. Earth exchanges energy with its environment (the solar system) through radiation. The radiative balance of the planet is a fundamental parameter since it determines our Earth's weather (the atmosphere heats up or cools down depending on whether it receives more or less energy). This balance includes solar energy, which is the main source of energy for the planet, likewise, the atmosphere and the ocean can transfer excess energy from one region to a different one on the globe.  Energy from the Sun can be absorbed by the ground, diffused into the atmosphere or reflected. Of the energy absorbed by the soil, part penetrates the ground, part is used in the evaporation of the existing water in the soil and then is transported in the atmosphere in the form of latent heat and the last part is transferred by contact, to the atmosphere, which distributes it inside through a turbulent convection mechanism. Long-wave radiation emitted by the earth is also involved in the global energy balance.
