Before You Begin
Before you begin, think about what you have learned from the previous lesson. You know that human capital, the investment in industries, and natural resources play a key role in the economy of a country.

As you may recall, human capital is the investment in people by way of education and training, so they can be productive and educated citizens. Capital investments are funds dedicated to machinery, factories, and technology that can contribute to economic growth. Natural resources are raw materials or something found in the environment that people want or need. Rates of literacy, or the ability to read and write, also contribute to the advancement of an economy. In addition, allowing entrepreneurs the opportunity to create new products and businesses is a very important factor to economic development. Does India, China and Japan have all of these economic factors? Best way to find out is to do some research.

Directions
Research India, China, and Japan’s literacy rate, human capital, capital investment, natural resources, entrepreneurship, and GDP. Create a slide show that shows the literacy rate, human capital, capital investment, and support or lack of support for entrepreneurship in India, China, and Japan. On the final slide, explain how these factors affect each nation’s Gross Domestic Product. Include:

A title slide with a purpose and your name
Percentages of each economic factor--literacy rates, human capital, capital investment, and entrepreneurship of all three countries
Explanations of how the GDP is affected by these factors on each slide
Appropriate graphics for each slide
