So we were working in SS today and one of the questions was about Black Magic. The question was do we believe in it or not, and also included something about Marie Laveau. This is what I put tell me if you think this is good: First, I don't believe in black magic and even if I did I wouldn't have anything to do with it). Here's why: Black Magic isn't like any normal magic (this is coming from my background knowledge of knowing what it is) and it always comes at a cost. Not only that but it is said to be a dangerous thing, nevertheless for people to just be sitting around using every day. One thing I know is that Black Magic is the Darkest part of Magic because (according to people and sources based around my own hometown, and past teachers) it is linked to the Devil. Black Magic, the Dark Hand. There were a few times where I heard that Black Magic also had a tie in with other cultures, some even believing that it tied into the Grim Reaper, also known as the Soul Collector. Also performing such a ritual would be bad not only for the one performing it, but for the people around them. I even learned to understand what costs dark magic can have from video games (as they show that when someone uses it, it causes themselves damage without knowing it, thank Dishonored 1 and 2 for some of my knowledge please). It's a bad thing in general. Even though I don't believe in it I would say that if somehow it does truly exist then Marie Laveau, was not one to be messing with it. Voodoo especially. That's such an evil thing to do nevertheless on whoever she considered an enemy. However due to my disbelief in such a notion, I think that Marie was just fibbing, specifically so people would believe she was some special speaker or person. It would not only be dangerous but the fact that she would use such a practice in such a social way makes me feel as though she would just say that she could do all these things so she could have special treatment, or so that people would fear her and her supposed abilities. Whether or not she could do something special or if she couldn't, for her to suggest something like that is wrong. Especially considering she said she had the power of the Reaper or someone like the pitchfork wielder.
