When we look at what motivates us there are a number of theories to help explain how we spend our time. According to David McClelland we have sever important needs, including the need for Affiliation, Achievement, and Power. The needs that are highest for us often dictate where we spend our time and energy. See for yourself by completing McClelland's survey and scoring it for yourself, http://www. jesuspachecoperez. com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/McCl ellands-Social-Motivations. pdf (Links to an external site.) Once you have finished taking this survey and scored it look at which needs are the highest (or maybe they are balanced) then reflect on your behaviours that help to satisfy these needs. He also suggests that if you don't spend time satisfying these needs you will be very anxious, so if you aren't doing things to satisfy these needs explain why (maybe you ran out of money, have no time, etc.)
