What was the Marshall Plan? How did this contribute to tension between the U. S. and Soviet Union? Plz help i have no idea what to answer

The Marshall Plan, also known as the European Recovery Program, was a U.S. program providing aid to Western Europe following the devastation of World War II. It was enacted in 1948 and provided more than $15 billion to help finance rebuilding efforts on the continent. The brainchild of U.S. Secretary of State George C.

The Soviet Union made up for a third of the casualties(deaths) so the U.S. offered the Marshall Plan to the Soviets but they refused to have help because they believed it was a plan to sabotage them and there satellite plan. As we know of this was not what the U.S. intended but the Soviet Union believed that which could be why they didn’t trust American and why this created tension.
