There are many symptoms of histrionic personality disorder. Five or more symptoms must be present before a doctor will diagnose the disorder. The symptoms must also cause significant distress and impairment in the individual. These symptoms include: Appearance (overly concerned with physical appearance and may dress provocatively), Approval (constantly seeking approval or reassurance from others), Decision-making (often acts impulsively or makes rash decisions), Easily influenced (too gullible and easily influenced by others), Difficulty with relationships (may believe relationships are more intimate than they actually are and have difficulty maintaining relationships), Self-centered (becomes uncomfortable and even anxious when not the center of attention), Overly sensitive (excessively sensitive to criticism or disapproval), Shifting emotions (emotions shift rapidly and often appear shallow to others), and Low tolerance (little tolerance for frustration).
