Why is the 9th amendment so important

It is the Constitution of the United States. It is a statement the is not important by itself but is important in the sense of the Declaration of Independence, stating our independence from the British and our rights as people.

How are you doing? In reality, your question is Theoretic. All Amendments are important as they state our rights as a citizen of America. 

The 9th Amendment states: "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people." This Amendment, does not put a limit on guns, slaves, or words, but instead it is stating that not all of a citizens rights are on the constitution (As the constitution also limited the government) therefore, all common rights that are not on the Constitution are on the Bill of Rights. So the 9th amendment was their to lead you to another document of only a Citizens Rights.
