Job is a character from the land of Uz, who was very rich, and who had a really happy family and happy life. It is said in the book of Job, part of the Old Testament in the Bible, that he was favored by God for his righteousness.

At one point in time, Job, who is particularly hated by Satan, as he seems to always be devoted to God, starts to see his entire happy life turned upside down as Satan challenges God, telling Him that Job is devoted just because he has all he could ever want in life. God takes up Satan´s challenge and tells him that Job will never turn away from Him, even in the darkest moments.

And so, the bad events start to happen, one after the other, with Job loosing not just his material wealth, but also his family and his own health. Satan awaits the moment when Job will start turning against God, but during his suffering, Job maintains his faith, and always says that God can take away what God has given. He also says that he belongs to the Lord, and the Lord can give and take away anything. Job also becomes a testimony of true faith and true trust in God, foreshadowing what Christ would do when he went through his Passion.

After all is resolved, and Job triumphs against the temptations to turn away from God due to misfortune, he shows that human wisdom is very small, while God´s wisdom is everlasting and all-encompassing and that it is better to give oneself to God´s wisdom than try to live life through human wisdom.
