What do political scientists mean when they talk about the “state-society relationship”?

According to the DFID, State-society relationship is the relationship between state institutions and societal groups to discuss how public authority is implemented and how it can be swayed by people. Also, the state is independent: not subject to the total control of other organizations, but serves as a base to control other organizations. 

The state is a political association that is installed in the public eye, and there is a standard, corresponding connection between a general public's size and a state's quality. A political scientist is somebody who examines government, political procedures and political issues experimentally, regularly inside the setting of a scholastic organization. This field of study includes numerous things other than the formal establishment of government.
