On this day in 1954, Bill Haley and the Comets record “Rock Around the Clock." The single sold a respectable 75,000 copies
in the next few months. It was actually the "B-side" of a record titled "Thirteen Women." "Rock Around the Clock" would all
but be forgotten if it weren't for a 10-year-old boy named Peter Ford. Peter was the son of actor Glenn Ford. Peter introduced
his father to the song, and his father used the song in the opening credits of a movie he starred in called Blackboard Jungle.
Later, the song was used as the theme song for a popular series called Happy Days.
PROMPT: After "Rock Around the Clock” was placed in the opening credits of Blackboard Jungle, it became an
overnight sensation, selling over a million copies in a single month. Why do you think it is important for any possible hit
to have the right "exposure"?
