What would politicians gain from having fewer people cast votes? What are the risks when increasing access to voting?

When fewer people vote, it’s easier to turn the tides. for example, if 3 people were to vote, one for let’s say the green team and one for the purple team. if you were on team purple, you would only have to convince one undecided person to vote for you.

however, if there were three million people, one million for green, one million for purple, then you would have to convince one million undecided people to vote for you.

that’s why increased access to voting can be dangerous for politicians. you have to appeal to way more people, and there’s a higher chance they could vote for the other guy.
