Why is the Jamaican Parliament described as ‘Bicameral” Parliament?

Jamaica's parliament is "Bicameral" meaning that it consists of two houses; the Senate (Upper House), and the House of Representatives (Lower House).

In this regard, the House of Representatives consist of elected Members of Parliament from 63 constituencies elected every five years. Following which parliament is dissolved and elections are held.

On the other hand, the Senate, consists of 21 members elected by the Governor General who is a representative of the British Monarch in Parliament. Out of the 21 Senators, the leader of opposition suggests eight while the prime minister suggests thirteen. The Senate is responsible in electing the President and Vice President respectively. It also reviews legislations before they are passed to the House of Representatives.
