How did the Founding Fathers try to ensure that the government would serve its people?

The Founding Fathers tried to ensure that the Government would serve its people by ensuring that the government was limited. The Founders then created a system that protected the freedoms granted to the people, while still allowing it to be broken down if there was to much corruption.
