Federalism: the relationship between the federal government and the states is a complicated one. States, at times, may want to make policy choices that differ from the ones the federal
government makes. Write an essay on this topic that takes a position on which form of federalism
is the most workable strategy, whether you believe states should have more or less autonomy in
making laws that apply to the people of the states, and if you think there should be a strict
separation between states’ authorities and those of the federal government, or not. Throughout
the essay, make sure to cite examples of current challenges in the issue area of federalism and
any Supreme Court decisions that you’re aware of in which the Supreme Court has taken a stance
