Geography- Where did the Mesopotamians settle? What types of crops did they have? Describe the climate of the land.

Mesopotamian civilizations formed on the banks of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in what is today Iraq and Kuwait. They grew Wheat, Barley, dates, cucumbers, onions, apples, and different types of herbs. Mesopotamia is a large region with a climate that varies based on elevation and proximity to the sea. However, it is generally very dry (less than 5 inches of rain per year in Baghdad, on average), and has distinct seasons. In the lower elevations, summers are very hot and the winters are mild to cold.
