Whats the difference between rotation and revolution?

This is a matter of definitions, so no explanation.

Rotation is spinning on an axis (think of the Earth rotating to make the days go by, or a ballerina spinning on their toe). Revolution is when something revolves around something. It moves around that object in a ring, so how the Earth revolves around the sun, or cars on a race track revolve around the center of that track.

giant impact theory - the moon was formed from the collision between earth and another mars-sized body.

colliding planetesimals hypothesis - the moon was formed from the same cloud of material as earth.

capture hypothesis - the moon was locked into orbit by earths gravity as it was passing by it.

accretion hypothesis - the moon was formed from collisions and combining of planetesimals.
