PLEASE HELP!!! At one point in time, it was much easier to become a U. S. citizen. Why has it become so difficult? What problems could arise if anyone could become a citizen?

So in my opinion becoming a U.S. citizen is pretty easy but for some it's not but why it might be hard is you have to memorize everything because you never know what question you'll get asked and sometimes you get unlucky and don't get a good questioner some people don't know they can translate to there language so they fail there many factors to consider just some of them.
