One could say that the hemisphere of the brain is like a structuralist, who wants to break everything down into its smallest parts; and the side of the brain is like a gestaltist, who wants to study only the whole.

The left brain is the hemisphere of the brain that is associated with logic, sequencing linear thinking, and breaking things down into components. The left brain would be more comparable to the structuralist.

The right brain is more associated with holistic thinking, creativity, intuition, and understanding the essence of things, rather than the sum of their parts. The right side of the brain would be more comparable to someone who wants to study only the whole.
