It deals with emotions which include fear, pleasure and so on. Furthermore, it stores or saves memories for future use. Thus, it controls an individual’s anger and aggression

EXPLANATION

Amygdala is a specific part of the brain that controls all of our emotions. It is functioning like the human’s emotional processor. Therefore, this part of the brain can produce all kinds of emotions, like sadness, happiness, anger, and also including fear. This part of the brain caused people to experience fear when seeing a snake.

There is also a term in psychology when the amygdala bypasses the normal reasoning process inside of our brain. This is called emotional hijack. When emotional hijack happens, our emotions will be more powerful than our rational part. So instead of using our rational part, we use our emotional part to make decisions for us.  

When the amygdala takes over our behavior, sometimes it can be good but it can also be bad. For example, when an attacker is trying to hurt your child. You will use your emotions instead of your rational side. You will not think of how big and strong the attacker is, but you just want to save your child by defending him all that you can. This is an example of an emotional hijack that does well for our lives.

An emotional hijack can also be bad. For example, we might do irrational things when we are experiencing a lot of problems. When we have a family problem at home, and also your co-worker does not do their job well. Instead of being rational and finishing the problem one by one, you cry and snap at your co-worker. This is an example of how emotional hijack can be bad in our lives.
