Our tendency to recall the last and first items in a list is known as the effect.

It is known as the serial position effect
The term was first introduced by Hermann Ebbinghaus.
He believed that people, in general, use the last items when remembering the list as some sort of checkpoint that separates this list with other memory and the first list as the object that activated the rest of the memory of the list.
