Why the wilmot proviso passed in the house of representatives but not in the senate? pleasss its due tomorrow heellpp

Back when David Wilmot was trying to pass the bill, the House of Representatives had more representatives from the North, who agreed with the bill and Wilmot's views. However, even though the House passed the Wilmot Proviso, the Senate (which was equally represented by both free states and slave states from both the North and South) did not pass it. Since it is the law to have both houses of Congress to pass the proviso, the bill didn't make it.

So, in basis, the Wilmot Proviso was only passed in the House of Representatives because of the majority of Northern representatives present. It didn't pass in the Senate because of the equal representation between the North and the South (free states and slave states), which means that the presence of the Southern slave states kept the bill from passing.
