The media shapes our understanding and impacts our values and beliefs about marriage in both posistive and negative ways. The media portrays things in a light that they determine and based off of that, we form our opinion. A negative way that the media impacts our values and beliefs about marraige is by creating a stigma of what is the norm within society. The media sets standards that we then believe should be followed and if they are not, its not normal. A positive way that the media can impact our values and beliefs on marriage is by doing stories and interviews with those who have been married for a long time, have stories to tell about hard times they've overcome and give examples couples today can learn from.
