What event in 1911 focused attention on the need to protect factory workers?

The Triangle Shirtwaist Fire was the event that occurred in 1911 that focused the attention on the safety of factory workers. It happened in Manhattan, New York City and was the deadliest industrial disaster in the US history. The fire killed 146 garment workers due to smoke inhalation, the fire itself, or from falling or jumping to their deaths. This incident then led to improving factory safety standards and better working conditions for sweat shop workers all over the US.
