If the item is feminine, it would need to have a letter "a" at the end and have "la" before the word (ex: ella o la puerta)

        Unlike English, that has one adjective regardless the gender of the                            item, Spanish language changes the spelling according the gender (feminine or masculine). For example:

Beautiful - Hermoso (masculine) / Hermosa (feminine)

Expensive - Caro (masculine) / Cara (feminine)

Fast - Rápido (masculine) / Rápida (feminine)

We can notice that masculine adjectives end with "O" while feminine adjectives end with "A".

Then of course, if we are referring to plural form we should add the letter "S" at the end of the word without changing the gender.
