We know that direct and indirect objects can be tricky to learn in Spanish, since there is not always a direct translation for their uses in English. That's why we want you to get as much practice as possible using them. In this assignment, you will be working with what you've recently learned about object pronouns and idioms. I. Fill in the blank with the correct indirect object pronoun. Then, read the sentence aloud in your recording. 1. Él da el libro (a María). 2. Elena escribe una carta (a mí). 3. Usted lo cómpra (a nosotros). 4. Mi mamá lo dice (a tí). 5. Ellas traen las noticias (a ellos). II. Now write five original sentences using direct and indirect object pronouns and the 5 verbs listed above (dar, escribir, comprar, decir, traer). Make sure that each sentence uses a different combination of subject, direct, and indirect object pronouns. Read each sentence aloud in your recording when you have finished. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. III. Translate the following idioms in English to their closest Spanish equivalent. Then, read each idiom out loud in your recording. 11. How nice to see you! 12. To be in one's element 13. To be a cool person 14. To be all dressed up 15. To lie about one's age IV. Complete each sentence by filling in the blanks with the appropriate conjugations of the verbs in parentheses. Each verb will be in either the imperfect or the preterite tense—make sure to decide which tense is needed before you conjugate. 16. Cuando (ser) niña, a veces (nadar) en la piscina de mis vecinos. 17. Ana me (llamar) ayer cuando yo (estar) cocinando. 18. Anoche Rodrigo y yo (ir) a una fiesta de cumpleaños muy grande.
