Why do the northern United States get more snow than the southern states

The reason why the northern United States get more snow than the southern states is because of their low-pressure area and colder climate.

When the atmosphere over a place is cold enough, there will be more snow, through the depth of the troposphere.

Therefore,  the northern United States is more colder, hence more snow.

It's because the ones that are more northern have a colder climate with a higher latitude than those in the south, plus the more northern United States are closer to the North Pole which is cold there in which you can get more snow.
