What are the ways of delaying a discussion or vote on a motion

Well even though I'm not 30 and can tell you the wisest ways of the west, here are some of my techniques

Try not to make it obvious because then there going to think your trying to get out of something.

Act a little hopefully your a good actor because if not your dead.

Say something else

Or just ask them to wait a second.
