You will study both of these images, by comparing and contrasting them. The image on the left is by French minimalist artist Quibe and it’s a portrait of Stan Lee. The image on the right is by an unknown artst, and it’s actually only a small section of a much larger drawing. Begin by giving a brief description of both images. Then explain what the pictures have in common, and in what way they are different. Finish off by explaining which image you prefer, and why?

What immediately stands out about the differences in the two pieces?
What types of lines and shapes do we see in each image?
Do you believe that both of these works are on the same level, in terms of talent?
