Explanation:

Populations is a biology term use to describe a community determined by a certain number of creatures of the same type or species. A population share, the same space or as the biology refers to it: a demographic area. This group of related individuals shares important and determined characteristics that allow them to interbreed (which means that they reproduce between them).

For interbreeding to happen succesfully, the creatures in the population got to peer with another member of the community and to be able to produce fertile offspring. This means that the creatures got to be able to produce another creature with as many possibilities to reproduce  effectively as its parents.

Populations occur at different levels. A local population for example, happens in a small piece of land. Also, if the members of a population are able to mate with other local populations, they create a new population named metapopulation.

There are certain factors that affect population and influence its characteristics. For example, population growth is affected by biotic or intrinsic factors. These include actions like disease, competition for food or predators. The factors that are related to the climate are called abiotic factors. for instance: rain, wind, altitude, pollution, etc.

Two examples of populations are: The African elephants and the salmon.
