 The  molecular  formula  of a  compound  with   molar  mass of 44.01 g/mol  and empirical  formula of CO2 is

    First calculate the empirical formula mass

={12.01 + (16 x2)}n= 44.01  g/mol
   then divide the molecular formula  mass  with empirical formula mass

   that  is   44 g/mol÷  44 g/mol =1

then multiply  each subscript  in empirical formula  with  1  (answer  in  step 2)
that is  C = 1 x1=1
            O= 2 x1 =2
therefore the molecular formula = CO2
