At the top of a mountain the atmospheric pressure is much less as compared to sea level.

Explanation:-

Air Pressure is the force of bombardment of air molecules per unit area on an object.

Atmospheric pressure at sea level is the average pressure exerted by air at sea level.

It is 1 atmosphere or 1.013 Bar. As we go higher and higher, the density of the air decreases due to the effect of gravity.

Since fewer air molecules are present the number of bombardments per unit area decreases. Hence atmospheric pressure decreases as we go higher up.

A mountain is very high. Roughly for every 5.5 km the atmospheric pressure halves.

So at the top of a mountain the atmospheric pressure is much less as compared to sea level.
