The water molecules received enough energy through the heat for them to change to a liquid state by unfixing themselves from their fixed positions.

When the state changes from solid to liquid it is called melting. This phenomenon occurs when energy is added causing the molecules in the solid state to move in an accelerated motion, dissociating from one another. Increase in energy increases the motion of each molecule. When the molecules have reached optimum levels of energy they begin to glide past each other, it is at this stage that the state is considered liquid.

v - volume

n - number of moles

r - universal gas constant

t - temperature

so if the pressure, volume and temperature are already known

we are left with n and r

since r is the universal gas constant that has a known fixed value then r too is known

so we are left with 'n'

once we know temperature volume and pressure

we can find the number of moles of gas present using the ideal gas law equation
