This project is a design of secondary treatment units for municipal wastewater treatment for a city. The population of the city is 250,000. Each person generates 300 L wastewater per day that contains 0.085 kg BOD5. The primary settling tank removes 15% of BOD. A conventional suspended activated sludge process is designed to remove the rest up to the discharge standard of 20 mg/L. 1. Characterization of wastewater.
