PID compensator design A unity feedback system has the following forward transfer function:
G(s) = K/(s^2 + 10s + 24)(s + 10)
1) Generate the root locus and determine the range of K for system stability.
2) Design a PID controller so that the feedback system will operate with an overshoot of no
more than 10%, settling time of no more than 1.1 seconds and a steady-state error of
zero for a step input.
3) Verify that, after connecting the PID compensator to your original system, all design
requirements have been satisfied. Show suitable plots to prove the verification.
4) Present the transfer function of your PID compensator.
5) Determine if 2-order approximation is valid for your uncompensated and compensated
system.
6) Implement your PID controller, i. e. draw the compensator circuit and determine the values
of all the circuit components.
