What does neatness in a cover letters formatting , tone , and punctuation reveal to a potential employer

It can influence they if they want the job or not.

Example:

If it was messy, they wouldn't want to get the job that was messy and unprofessional.

If it were neat and clean, more of a chance of applying for a job
