This is the chapter in which Luke, farmer's son, is driving Charles and Lyddie to new work because of their old farm Lyddie has found a bear and it wasn't safe anymore.

Luke Stevens was someone who has offered help but Lyddie was rude to him and she doesn't want help. When Luke dropped Charles, Lyddie was crying and she was refusing every help from Luke. He continues with his kindness and helps offers but she is still acting mean.

In this chapter, she is showing how emotional is she and protective when it comes to her family. Although her manners are very poor and bad, we can see that she has a big heart.
