Ineed revising and adding to my speech:

look around you. it is estimated that 65% of us in this room are suffering or have experienced low self-esteem. insecurities slowly eating away at you until you feel like you’re drowning in a sea of self-loathing and doubt. this type of mental behavior can eventually lead to long term issues such as anxiety and depression. that’s why establishing self-love is essential. self-love is one of the most important types of love you can receive. before feeling compassion for others, feel compassion for yourself.

firstly, let me dispel some misconceptions about self-love and acceptance. it's not about being narcissistic and conceited but about being kind towards yourself.

one thing that many tend to do that only adds to the weight of low self-esteem is comparing themselves to others. some people compare themselves with others until it’s as if they have hit the self-destruct button. many use the following phrases to devalue themselves: “i’m not as talented as them.” or “i’d give anything to be as pretty as them.” everybody needs to understand that perfection is an illusion. there is no such thing as anyone without faults or blemishes.

self-acceptance, although similar, is not like self-esteem. self-acceptance is unconditional. despite your flaws, weaknesses, and failures, you accept and appreciate yourself. once you have learned to accept yourself, you find it easier to forgive yourself and to disregard judgment.

forgetting about negative judgment is usually said to be part of the first steps in loving and accepting yourself. self-validation is a vital part of inner happiness and peace. why do you need to seek validation from others? seeking validation is proved to be harmful to your esteem. you’re allowing people to control your life based on your fear of what people think of you. don’t let people dictate what you can and can’t be.
