Maurice watched his grandfather typing furiously on a typewriter and mumbling to himself. He couldn't resist sneaking behind him and breaking his concentration.

"Hey, Grandpa, what are you working on today?" Maurice asked.

"Oh, nothing special. Go watch that little TV you carry in your pocket."

"It's a cell phone, Gramps," Maurice said with a laugh.

"Whatever you call it. You can go back to it and not bother with me." His grandfather tried to wave him off, but Maurice pulled up a chair and sat next to him.

"Come on, Gramps, let me have a peek. I promise, I won't disturb you." Maurice bent over to read the letters on the sheet of paper coming from the typewriter. The machine always puzzled him. He knew what it did, but he couldn’t understand why his grandfather stuck to this old thing instead of using a computer.

Maurice spoke up after a few minutes. "Gramps, you know this will be a lot easier to type if you use my laptop. You don’t have to worry about making any errors, and you don’t have to put in another paper every time you reach the bottom of the page. And no more of those messy black ribbons, either."

"That's the problem with you kids. You want everything the easy way," his grandfather replied, shrugging off the boy's questions.
