In Act 1 the father finds Anne's diary and she is barely mentioned. Act 2 is when the Frank's, Anne and everyone else starts living with the Van Daans. They agreed to let them hide until everything is over. Anne has a bright and happy attitude until she finds out that she can't go outside or downstairs. After her father tries to cheer her up she writes in her diary that she realizes that life us going to be hard.
