"Changing Times" Ben blinked rapidly as he stepped off the monorail and onto the platform. The sunshine was a bit too bright for his tired blue eyes. His legs shook as he took another step, and he struggled to keep his balance. He wasn't used to traveling at such a high speed. As he swayed, he brushed into a middle-aged man in a crisp black suit. The man almost glared at Ben. "Watch it," the man said, brushing off his suit. Ben was a bit flustered by the man's harsh response. Back in my day, he thought, people were polite to one another. He made his way over to the library at 121 Teal Plaza. He had only come into town because he needed to use a computer. He didn't have one and didn't want one, but for some reason, he had to fill out some tax form on the computer. He had to send it to the IRS, and the IRS would only accept the form online. "Whatever happened to writing a letter and mailing it the old-fashioned way with a stamp?" Ben muttered to himself and glanced at his surroundings. The area had changed so much since he had been there nearly ten years ago. The old park that had stood next to the town's center was now gone. In its place were a concrete parking lot and a tall metal building. As he walked, Ben's legs began to ache. He was nearly 80 years old, but he refused to slow down. He found the library's main entrance and stood for a moment, surveying the scene. There were hardly any books, he noticed. Computers were lined up on desks for what seemed like miles. He walked over to a computer that wasn't being used and sat down in front of it. He stared at the black screen. He looked at the keyboard, squinting to make out any of the letters on it. He waited another minute for the computer to, well, actually do something. Finally, Ben got up to search for the librarian. He walked from one end of the library to the other. He found a young girl with short brown hair sitting behind a large desk. She was chewing a giant piece of pink bubble gum, which she snapped loudly in her mouth every 30 seconds. The name tag she wore read, "Alice Jones, Librarian." This was the librarian? Ben wondered. "Um, excuse me, young lady," Ben began. "Yeah?" Alice looked up, seemingly disinterested. "Could you perhaps help me locate a form using the, oh, what's it called? The World Wide Web?" Ben questioned. The girl chuckled. "You mean the Internet?"

“heartwork each day is born with a sunrise and ends in a sunset, the same way we open our eyes to see the light, and close them to hear the dark. you have no control over how your story begins or ends. but by now, you should know that all things have an ending. every spark returns to darkness. every sound returns to silence. and every flower returns to sleep with the earth. the journey of the sun and moon is predictable. but yours, is your ultimate art.” ― suzy kassem what does this quote mean to you? and why? i'm not looking for anything in particular, i just wanted to know. : )
